- The picture more specifically uses either a three-valued logic PWM or possibly tri-state logic PWM as the blue input signal, because there is an additional intermediate state at 0V that could possibly represent either high-impedance for tri-state logic. This article doesn't actually talk about such 3-level PWM signals, but only deals with on-off 2-level PWM signals, so maybe this isn't the best intro picture without more explanation. (en)
